October 2018 Kreators Blog Hop: Autumn Color

I don’t know about you, but this is definitely my favorite time of year. It is also one of the busiest for me. As a result, I have been MIA for quite some time. My apologies!! However, I am once again participating the the Kreators Blog Hop. I am so happy to be in this blog hop with so many talented Stampin’ Up Demonstrators!

October 2018 Autumn Color Challenge

October 2018 Color Challenge - Autumn

This month, we are inspired by this beautiful photo and have been challenged to create projects using at least three out of four colors featured in the photo. The four colors represented in the photo are:  Soft Suede, Granny Apple Green, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, and Gray Granite. Check out what I came up with and then hop to the next person in the list below.

Luminaria Card

In the Southwest, it is a Christmas tradition to decorate with Lumarias. A Luminaria is a Christmas lantern consisting of a votive candle set in a small paper bag weighted with sand and typically placed with others along a driveway, sidewalk, or rooftop as a holiday decoration. Now days, there is a less dangerous way to do this by using battery operated candles. Either way, they are beautiful! Last weekend, I participated in a fundraiser for cancer research in honor of a team member who recently passed away. For one of my projects, I came up with a Fall Luminaria card. I decided it would be fun to do one for this challenge as well. I took several pictures of card, which two sided. Unfortunately, my camera does not shoe the real WOW factor of this card. In real like, it is very pretty.

For this hop, I chose to use Soft Suede, Real Red and Pumpkin Pie. When you compare my project to the photo above, they look quite different. The photo is very vibrant, while my card represents these colors in a muted way. I think both are really pretty but have a very different vibe. However, let me know what YOU think. 🙂

If you would like the PDF for how I made this card, please contact me and I will be glad to send it to you! Here is a list of what I used for this project.

2018 Cre8tors Blog Hop: Celebrate Amazing You

2018 Kre8tors Blog Hop

Welcome to the 2018 Kre8tors Blog Hop!  This is my first time to participate in a blog hop. I’m so excited to be a part of this fun, creative journey along with some very talented Stampin’ Up! demonstrators!!

February’s theme is Sale-a-bration.  Each participating demonstrator will be featuring products from the brochure so be sure to visit each of the links at the end of this blog post to see everyone’s projects!

My Featured Products:  Amazing You Stamp Set and Coordinating Celebrate You Thinlit Dies

I absolutely love stamp sets and dies that coordinate with each other. I think the Amazing You stamp set is absolutely beautiful! Check out my samples below.

#1 Simple and Clean Amazing You Card

My first sample is very simple, but pretty. Sometimes, less is more. I stamped the words and flowers in Archival Basic Black ink on Whisper White cardstock and layered it on a piece of Smokey Slate cardstock. The card base is thick Whisper White. The word “you” I stamped on a scrap piece of Whisper White and then cut it out.

Amazing You 4

#2 Petal Passion Amazing You Card

For this card, I again used thick Whisper White for the base. On a scrap of Whisper White, I stamped the word “amazing” and hand cut it into a banner. I stamped the flowers in Basic Black Archival ink and used the two shades of Daffodil Delight Blends markers to fill them in. Be careful because the black could bleed so try to only color in the middle. The other option is the stamp the flowers in black Momento or StazOn ink. Once I colored the flowers, I cut along the edge of one side and adhered it to the striped pattern from the Petal Passion DSP. I stamped the word “You” in Craft White ink and embossed with white embossing powder.

Amazing You 2

#3 Silver Sparkle Amazing You Card

I had a lot of fun with this next card. I used Smokey Slate for my card base. I stamped the flowers in Basic Black Archival Ink. Then, I used a silver Sharpie to color the card stock around the flowers. I love doing this and the effect it produces! I don’t know if there is a name for this technique, but there probably is. If anyone can tell me, I would love to know. I layered this on a piece of Basic Black cardstock and then attached it at an angle to a piece of the Petal Passion DSP which I also used the silver marker to color in all the flowers. The dragonfly is from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits dies from the Annual Catalog and was cut out on a piece of silver glimmer paper.

Amazing You 3

#4 Silver Sparkle Brick Wall Amazing You Card

This card was also a lot of fun. I used the new silver embossing paste from the Occasions catalog to make the brick wall. I put embossing paste directly on a Basic Gray card base using a template and palette knife from the Annual Catalog. I stamped the flowers in Basic Black Archival ink, sponged on some Pool Party, and cut them out. I dried the embossing paste using my heat tool. I noticed this takes a little bit to dry, so if you are impatient like me, the heat tool works well. Once it was dry, I stamped two flowers in Basic Black Archival ink on top of the embossed brick wall. I added my cut out flowers to the card using dimensionals. I cut out the words “celebrate” and “you” using the coordinating Celebrate You Thinlits dies.  These were also cut out on silver glimmer paper. As a final touch, I added the smallest of the clear faceted gems to the center of each flower.

Amazing You 6

#5 Thank You Narrow Note Card

My final sample used the Whisper White Narrow Note Cards from the Occasions catalog. I stamped the flowers in Basic Black Archival ink and sponged them in Sweet Sugarplum. The “thank you” is from the All Things Thanks Stamp Set from the Annual Catalog. I used the fine tip of a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to add some dots to the card for interest. Finally, I stamped the envelope to match.

Amazing You 5

I hope you enjoyed my samples. There are so many other ways to use this stamp set and the coordinating dies. To get these free, shop my online store by clicking the link on the right navigation bar.
